William J. Tapert, of Danbury, CT, passed away peacefully at home with his beloved family by his side on January 10th, 2025. He was 81-year-old.
Born on October 5, 1943 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, son of the late Julius C. Tapert and Margaret (Kornmeir) Tapert.
William graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School, Mi and continued his education at Sobbone University Paris France to receive his master’s degree in finance. William was an investment banker with Chatsworth Group for many years before retiring. After college Bill worked as an investment banker in London and New York. He often traveled abroad on business and loved what he did for more than 50 years. Later in life while at a conference at Bear Stearns he met the love of his life Priscilla. They had been married for 17 years.
One of Bill’s hobbies was woodworking, He had a wooden boat (Grand Banks) he varnished Sag Harbor NY. He also loved cooking his favorite dish rice and beans with chicken together with his wife.
William is not only survived by his beloved wife Priscilla, but also his children Georgia Tapert-Howe (Louis), Nicholas Tapert (Emma), his grandchildren; Byrdie, Louie, Cy, Billie named after his grandfather, his stepchildren; Jorge Puello jr.(Karessa), Alejandro Puello, John N. Puello; Step grandchildren Sofia, Jayden, Capri, Canon, and his siblings; Julie Tapert-Trombetta (Alan), John Tapert and Maggie Tapert. He was predeceased by his siblings; Thomas Tapert, Richard (Dick) Tapert. Michael VanLokeren thank you for being a good friend to Bill.
As requested by William a private cremation took place. Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street, Danbury) assisted the family with arrangements. His ashes will be taken by Priscilla to St Paul on the lake Catholic Church in Michigan.
