William Richard Perry died Wednesday, December 10th at Danbury Hospital after a long illness. Bill was born in Danbury to the late Richard and Nancy Forbell Perry and was raised in Bethel. As a young man, he was active in scouting, ran track in high school and was a lifeguard at Meckauer Park in Bethel. After graduating from high school Bill joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. Following his military service, Bill was employed by Consolidated Controls where he worked until his retirement. Bill was held in high regard by his coworkers and was honored as Employee of the Year during his tenure.
In his early thirties, Bill was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia. Though it was a difficult time he successfully entered remission and remained so for the rest of his life. Following his illness Bill embraced life with renewed energy, becoming an avid runner and a cycling enthusiast for many years. He also enjoyed bowling, loved reading about history, especially the Civil War and World War II and was a devoted coin collector.
He is survived by his brothers, Dean Perry and his wife Suzanne, Mark Perry and his wife Clare, his sister Susan Perry and her husband Richard Levi, his aunt, Margaret Forbell, his nephew Matthew Perry and his nieces Tessa Gianoni, Laura Perry and Rebecca Perry. Also a grand niece, grand nephews and several cousins. He will be remembered fondly and missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Laurel Ridge for the compassionate care they provided to Bill over the last two years.
Services will be held at the Danbury Memorial funeral home on Saturday January 17, 2026 from 11am-1pm.
