Weldon "Woody" Edward Woodruff

Weldon “Woody” E. Woodruff Jr.  passed away on February 4, 2020 at Danbury Hospital, beloved husband of Martha (Rossi) Woodruff. Woody was born on February 15, 1946 in Danbury, CT to the late Dorothy L. (Thompson) and Weldon E. Woodruff Sr. Woody graduated from Danbury High School in 1965 and attended Western Connecticut State College.  He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968 in Germany. Woody held a lifelong career in the banking and mortgage industry.

Woody loved socializing with friends, when he wasn’t, he was watching PGA golf and the NBA, especially the UCONN Huskies.  He loved going to Newport Rhode Island in the summer. In the fall, he preferred visiting Vermont. Another favorite place of his, was Key West where he and Marty married.

Woody is survived by his loving wife Martha (Rossi) Woodruff, his beloved children Carley Woodruff (Freddy Jimenez), Ashley Botex (Joel), and Chad E. Woodruff; his grandchildren Peter Thomas Jr., Ella Star Jimenez, Alana Botex, Evan Botex, Eve Star Botex, and Madison Marie Arnold. Woody is also survived by his great granddaughter Demi Amina Thomas, his nephew John Thomas Woodruff Jr., and Gwen Fuhrmann, mother of his children. He was predeceased by his brother John Thomas Woodruff Sr. and sister Shirley Fitzsimons.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Thursday February 13, 2020 from 5-7 pm at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St. Danbury, CT 06810) with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 6:30 pm.
