Wayne McCarthy Obituary

Wayne Robert McCarthy passed away peacefully on May 27, 2021 at Danbury Hospital.  Wayne was born on June 20, 1945, in Cold Spring, New York to the late Jean (Vail) and Robert R. McCarthy.

Wayne served in the U.S Navy from 1964 to 1968. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S Wasp, He was the official driver to the General for 18 months while serving in Africa. Wayne briefly attended West Conn before becoming a long-haul truck driver for 28 years. His hobbies included riding motorcycles spending time with his family, friends, and his dog princess. He loved football and was an avid Tom Brady fan.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Basher) McCarthy, his beloved daughters Laura Caceres Candace McCarthy, his brother Gary McCarthy, his sister Patricia Cordova, his grandchildren Caitlin, Kristin, Jennifer, Jessica Caceres, Matthew Keeler, Lauren and Amber Richdale, as well as many nieces and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen McCarthy Richdale.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday June 4, 2021 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St. Danbury, CT 06801) from 1pm – 3pm.
