Wanda Joyce (Turner) Rogers, of Danbury, CT, transitioned peacefully at her home on Sunday March 20, 2022 with her family by her side. She was 79 years old.
Wanda was born on November 8, 1942 in Boley, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of the late Lonnie Turner and Rosena (Gant) Turner. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Langston University to become a social worker with the State of New York where she worked for 35 years.
Wanda Rogers was a woman of great character who loved the Lord, and found comfort in Sunday services and the relationships she formed with her Church family. Cooking for her family was a passion of hers, watching football and basketball were her favorite pastimes; reading was her first love and talking politics with neighbors and friends stimulated her thirst to give and receive information about the world around her.
Wanda Joyce (Turner) Rogers is survived by her daughter, Dawn Rogers, grandson, Kolby Sinclair, brother, Lonnie DeWayne Turner, and nephew, Clayton DeWayne Fitchette, cousins, Church family and friends. She was predeceased by - her father Lonnie Herbert Turner and mother Rosena (Gant) Turner and sister Bernadine Lavonne Fitchette.
A celebration of life gathering will be on Tuesday March 29, 2022 from 11am-12pm at New Hope Baptist Church (12 Dr Aaron B Samuels Blvd, Danbury). A service will follow at 12 noon at the church.
