Walter C. Stanley passed away peacefully on February 9, 2021, while surrounded by his loving family at his home in Danbury, CT. Walter was born on June 3, 1931 in Kildare, Ireland to the late Michael Stanley and Christine Duffy Stanley. Beloved husband of Marylyn Markowitz Stanley.
Walter was a skilled carpenter for over 60 years and took great pride in his trade. His talented work has been displayed in Home & Gardens magazine, Macy’s iconic window displays and the World Trade Center. Even during retirement Walter stayed busy. He shared his craft by making beautiful furniture for his family and friends and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and the Danbury food pantry. He loved to travel and had passion for history. Walter was also an avid supporter of Gaelic Football and a devoted fan of his county Kildare’s team.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by his two cherished daughters: Heather and Michelle. He is also the proud grandfather to 4 grandsons, whom adored him greatly, and his dog, Manny.
In lieu of flowers and to honor his love for dogs, please make a donation in Walter’s memory to the ASPCA.
