Walter Thomas Humphrey, 90, born May 18, 1930 passed away peacefully on March 3, 2021 with his wife, Pat, and faithful dog, Kaycee, at his side.
Walt was born in Whitestown, N.Y. At the age of 11, he moved to Stamford, CT where he spent most of his life. A graduate of Stamford High School, Walt was a member of the United States Army National Guard during his high school years. After graduation, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, and United Nations Service Medal. Walt was employed as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic for Richard Morris Excavating for more than 40 years until the business closed. He then worked for M & L Excavators of Greenwich, CT. Upon retirement, Walt moved to Stockbridge, VT and lived on a small farm with his wife of more than 30 years, Patricia Herrmann Humphrey.
Walt loved the sport of Rodeo. In his younger years, he traveled throughout the Northeast participating in calf roping events. Walt was known for his sense of humor, big heart, and always willing to help others.
Walt was predeceased by his parents, Harry & Josephine Humphrey, his first wife of 25 years, Patricia Post Humphrey and daughter Ann Elizabeth, his son, Walter T. Humphrey Jr, and his stepson, Roger A. Petrone, Jr.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Scott Patrick Humphrey (Maureen), stepson, Robert A. Petrone, seven grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren.

Graveside services will take place at Lakeview Cemetery (352 Main St. New Canaan, CT) on April 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Due to COVID, social distancing & face masks are required.
