Vondina Sterling Obituary

Vondina Marie Sterling, 59, of Danbury, CT went to be with the Lord on April 29th, 2020 at Danbury Hospital.

Vondina was born July 29th, 1960 in Jacobi Hospital in Bronx, NY. Vondina was born to the late Claudette Hayward-Sterling and her father Louis Nathaniel Sterling, III. Vondina had four siblings; her brother Louis Nathaniel Sterling, IV, and her three sisters, Donice Jeanette Sterling, the late Delrinda Claudia Sterling, and Yvonne Olivia Sterling. Vondina was raised in the Bronx, NY. She graduated from William Howard Taft High School in 1978. Vondina married Cecil Bonitto, Jr. on August 6th, 1982. Through this union they had two children Latrese Larnise Bonitto and Cecil Arthur Bonitto, III. She loved her children with all her heart and would do anything for them. Vondina was a secretary at Chase Bank in New York City, a managing secretary for the New York City Housing Authority, and a postal carrier for the United States Postal Service. While employed at the USPS, she earned her Bachelor’s degree at The College of New Rochelle and her Master’s degree at Long Island University. She began her career as a School Psychologist with the New York City Department of Education. Vondina was extremely dedicated to and passionate about her work. Her area of expertise was working with children with special needs and their families. Vondina proudly served her clientele until she retired from service in 2017.

Vondina was a vibrant soul, one whose presence was palpable in any room she entered, and right up until the end final day, she was always eager to offer help to anyone she felt needed it. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved to sing, dance, shop, and also had a passion for crocheting, and traveling.  Vondina had four grandchildren: the late Malachai Julian Bonitto, Nylah Amari Cooper, Mark Herman Bonitto, and Amaya Leilani Bonitto. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eyes, she adored them tremendously, and she would move mountains for them if she could.

Vondina is survived by her two loving children Latrese and Cecil Bonitto, her father Louis Sterling, III, her husband Cecil Bonitto, Jr., three siblings Louis, Donice, and Yvonne, Sterling, three grandchildren Nylah Cooper, and Amaya and Mark Bonitto.
