Vince passed peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children on September 9, 2021 at the age of 91.
He is loved and will be missed by his wife Veronica, children, and grandchildren as well as his two younger brothers and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Vincent and Veronica met in the Westchester Skiers ski club and together formed life-long friendships. Vincent had a rich life with Veronica, filled with their great love of travel, adventure, and the outdoors. He passed on his love of skiing, camping, hiking, biking and speedskating to his children and grandchildren, having skied and speed skated into his eighties.
He will be remembered for his ability to spin entertaining and heartfelt yarns about his days growing up in Tarrytown NY, his parents who immigrated from Guardia Perticara, Italy and Lecara Fridi, Sicily and all his cherished memories of events and adventures with both friends and family. Vince had fond memories of helping his father in his leather repair shop, building the Tappan Zee Bridge, and his time serving on aircraft carriers in the Navy through the Korean war. He was a proud member of the American Legion and the Italian American Mutual Aid Society in Ridgefield, CT.
Most of all, Vince will be remembered for being a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and a loyal friend. Vincent’s kindness, warmth and laughter were noticed and remembered by those close to him and brief acquaintances, alike.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Veronica, his children- Erica, John and Cara, their spouses and 4 grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vincent’s memory to Regional Hospice of Danbury.
