Vera C. Reitman

Vera C. Reitman, passed away peacefully at her home in Lake Waubeeka on June 1, 2024. She was 101 years old.  She died peacefully in her sleep.

Vera was born on December 8, 1922 in the Bronx, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Angelo and Maria (Tati) DiSanti, both from the same small town in the Italian Apennine Mountains.

Vera met her husband, Edward Reitman, in the neighborhood in the Bronx where they grew up when they were teenagers. They married in their early twenties.  They had a strong and devoted marriage.  Edward predeceased his wife on February 9, 1988. 

Vera had a career as a medical secretary at Mt. Sinai Hospital. She started working once her children were older and she was devoted to the research the office was doing in environmental medicine.

After Edward’s passing Vera enjoyed traveling especially to Italy in August, spending time with some of her family who still lived there.  She loved to knit and was an amazing and tireless cook.

Vera is survived by her children, Irene Quvus of Dobbs Ferry, NY, Lynne Reitman of Dobbs Ferry, NY and Charlie Reitman of New Rochelle, NY. She had five grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was not only predeceased by her beloved husband Edward but also her 5 siblings.
