Thomas G. Taylor passed away peacefully on November 30, 2018 at Danbury Hospital, comforted by the love of his family and close friends. Tom was born on April 22, 1953 in Danbury, Connecticut to the late Jane (née Doyle) and Joseph F. Taylor and to many doting aunts and uncles in Brooklyn, NY. A Danbury native, Tom graduated from Immaculate High School and the University of Connecticut.
Tom worked for the Danbury News Times in his early career, and for the Loews Theater in his later career, but he is best known as “Tommy Tunes,” one of the most sought after DJs in the Danbury area.
Tom had a great love of movies and music, and an encyclopedic knowledge of both, which he channeled into his work as a Disc Jockey. Tommy Tunes always had the right music to match his clients and friends’ needs. He would spend hours in libraries, online, and in music stores developing playlists for various venues and occasions. Name a film or song and Tunes could quote it offhand. He was always a hit at his high school reunions and many other events around Connecticut. He aimed to please and never let anyone down, demonstrating the overall kindness and generosity of his character.
Tom is survived by his loving daughter, Elisabeth Randall, his siblings--Joseph Taylor (and wife Joni) and Nancy Pond (and husband Gregory)--, two grandchildren, Sarah and Morrigan, as well as his niece Colleen Taylor and nephews Daniel Taylor and Brett Pond. Thomas was pre-deceased by his elder brother and close friend, Robert Taylor.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Tuesday December 11th, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street. Danbury, Connecticut) with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery (71 Lake Ave Extension. Danbury, Connecticut).
Gifts may be sent in Thomas's name to the American Diabetes Association.
