Terrence McInerney "Mac" Obituary

Terrence William McInerney,  known by his family and friends as “Mac”, of Danbury, CT passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. He was 78 years old. Born on June 14, 1942 in Danbury, CT, Mac was the youngest of seven children of John and Julia (O’Keefe) McInerney. Although he never knew his father who passed when he was only two years old, Mac was a devoted son to his mother especially in her elder years. Advocating for her, doing her shopping and being with her. Husband of 57 years to his devoted wife Phyllis (Hatch) McInerney who was his sole caregiver for the past eight years keeping him in the comfort of their own home.

Mac was always a dedicated hard worker with a great work ethic. In his younger years he really enjoyed working as a tree climber at Meserve Tree Co. in Danbury. He then worked for the CT Laborers Union (Local 675) until retirement. Mac had quite a few hobbies and talents. He enjoyed fishing, lifting weights and playing his guitar. He used his creative talent to make beautiful coffee tables from tree slabs for family. He liked country music, westerns and older tv shows.

Mac was a good hearted man with a sense of humor. He loved his family and the little ones. At a time, he enjoyed taking his little girls to the mall often and spending time with them. He was a fighter his whole life. Running to the aid of anyone in danger, need or in an accident was truly one of his strengths. Mac thoroughly enjoyed his sweets. He couldn’t get enough of them! Especially candy, his favorite being Milkyway.

Mac is survived by his loving wife Phyllis McInerney, his three beloved daughters Sharon Jubenville (Rich, deceased) of Danbury, Susan Desgro (Frank) of New Milford and Sheila Santana (Enrique) of Danbury, his grandchildren Jessica Jubenville, Nicole Jubenville (Mark Le), Emily Desgro, Eva Santana and Enrique Mac Santana as well as his newborn great granddaughter Mila Le. Mac loved babies and was able to see his newest baby, Mila through facetime – bringing a smile to his face before passing. He is also survived by his sister Maureen Sibbitt of Danbury and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Julia McInerney, and siblings John, Timothy, Donald, Ann, and Robert.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful nurses and staff at Danbury Hospital (8 West) for their compassionate care of Mac and his family during his final days.
