Steven J. Simonelli, age 63 died in his home on September 22, 2020.
He was a 1975 graduate of Danbury High School, where he was a standout athlete in football, baseball and swimming. Steve went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at the University of Miami. After graduating, Steve returned to his hometown in Danbury and worked at the Eldorado Restaurant. He used those acquired skills to manage many successful restaurants in the Danbury and Ridgefield area. With his vast knowledge and experience, Steve and business partner Rocco Perna purchased and revitalized Anthony’s Lake Club in Danbury. Anthony’s is still one of the preeminent catering facilities in the area. He then founded Panini’s Deli and Catering with his then wife Monica. After selling the deli, Mr. Simonelli was a sales and leasing consultant at Greentree Toyota and Colonial Subaru. Mr. Simonelli was an excellent golfer who won the prestigious Ridgewood Country Club member guest in 1978.
He is survived by his 3 brothers Mark and his wife Nancy, William, Robert and his wife Mary Ann Simonelli; and his fourth brother Scott Ward and his wife Lisa. Steve is also survived by nieces and nephews Joe, Lauren, John, Nicole, and Daniel Simonelli; as well as many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nancy Simonelli.
