Santha Upul Jayakody (known as Upul Jayakody), passed away on April 28th, 2020 from complications of Covid 19. Upul was born on November, 28th, 1965 at Matara, Sri Lanka is the only son of late Mr. S.A Nandasena and Mrs. Leela Naotunna. He is survived by wife Nisha De Alwis, daughters Sehanthee Ranulika and Disasnee Senulika, siblings Viraji, Anoja, Deepthi, Nadeesha and Wasana and brother in laws Mahinda, Ranjan, Rajith, Niroshan and Laksiri..

Upul grew up in Maramba, Akuressa, Sri Lanka. He received his basic education from Maramba Primary School and Telijjavila Central College. He graduated from University of Kelaniya, Faculty of Sciences, Physical Science batch 1987/1988

Upul dedicated his life to serving the community as an active member of Lions Club International . He joined the Lions Club in 1992 and held positions of Secretary and President of the Lions Club Akuressa. He also held the position of Zone Chairperson. He started his career at Union assurance PLC as the sales manager of Matara Branch. He was also the Branch Manager of MBSL Insurance .. Upul will be fondly remembered for his loving heart, sincere smile, dedication to serve the people in need and mostly as a gentle, loving, caring human being. He was a loving father to his daughters Sehanthee (age 15) and Disasnee (age 10) responsible husband for his wife of sixteen years, Nisha, loving son to his parents, loving brother to his five sisters, loving brother in law and a caring uncle to his many nieces and nephews.
