Rosa Maria Espinal

Rosa Maria Espinal, of Danbury, CT, died peacefully in her home, with her family by her side after a valiant battle against pancreatic cancer on March 30, 2023. She was 68 years old. Born on September 26, 1954 in San Jose de las Matas, Dominican Republic, daughter of the late Americo Espinal and Ycelza Batista. Rosa was married to the love of her life, Francisco Espinal, for over 42 years.

Rosa was a tremendous woman of faith. She was a devoted servant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, an instrumental part of building the congregation. She dedicated much of her time to volunteering for the church in many areas from choir to community outreach. Her purpose was to serve God and others. Second to only God, her passion was her family. The true definition of matriarch, she was the pillar of her family, setting the tone by creating traditions and memories that will carry on through her children for generations to come. Rosa was a respected and dedicated employee of Danbury Hospital for 20 years before retiring in 2020. Rosa is survived by her husband, Francisco and their children; Osvaldo (Jennifer) Espinal, Areisy (Ana) Espinal, Rose Mary (Jorge) Garcia and Elisabeth (Richard) Reynoso; her grandchildren, Amelia and Ellis Jane Espinal, Adalia and Mateo Espinal, Ethan, Elliot, Eleni and Elisabeth Garcia, and Fabian and Romeo Reynoso; and her siblings, Hipolito, Jose, Demetrio, Isidro, Carmen, Leonardo, Rafael, and Pedro.

A Celebration of life gathering will be held on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St), from 5pm-8pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (29 Golden Hill Rd), at 11am. Interment will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
