Rosa Almonte Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Rosa Bella Almonte, affectionately known as Maritza, at the age of 74. She left this world in the comfort of her family home on August 22, 2024, surrounded by her four children and by the love she so deeply cherished.

Rosa Bella's journey began on February 10, 1950, in Vidal Pichardo, San José De Las Matas, Dominican Republic, as the youngest child of Isaia Genao and Emilia de Jesus Torres (Miña). Her life was shaped by early loss, as her mother passed away during her childhood. Raised by her devoted father and older siblings, Rosa Bella grew up with a strong sense of family that would define her entire life.

As a teenager, Rosa Bella embarked on a courageous journey, emigrating to New York in pursuit of a better future. Later, she settled in Danbury, CT, where she would build a life filled with love, resilience, and dedication. Rosa Bella was not only a loving mother and grandmother but also was a wonderful wife of 34 years to Sergio Almonte with remarkable strength and grace. She excelled in every endeavor she undertook, particularly in raising her family and managing her business affairs. Rosa Bella was a devout Catholic and a proud founding member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Danbury, CT.

Rosa Bella was an accomplished entrepreneur who, over the years, employed hundreds of people and made a significant impact on her community. Her businesses were not just ventures; they were lifelines for many, and she became a pillar of the community, known for her generosity, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping others succeed.

She was known for her selflessness and unwavering care for those around her. Her home was always open to friends and family, the place where she felt most at ease, surrounded by those she loved. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and an unshakeable commitment to her family and community.

Rosa Bella is survived by her beloved children, Arelis Almonte, Edwin Almonte, Daniel Almonte, Amanda Almonte and her cherished grandchildren, Sebastian, Serena, Lorenzo, Ethan and Sophia. She also leaves behind her dear siblings, Violeta Genao, Ana Dilia Nunez, Miguel Genao, Pedro Genao and William Genao.She is preceded in death by her siblings, Rafael Alfredo Genao (Blanco), Luis Genao, Ana Bertilia Vargas (América), Rosa Emilia Espinal (Bella), and Inocencio Genao (Eduardo).

Rosa Bella’s was an exceptional mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and so much more. Her presence in our lives was a gift, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love and light she brought into this world.

A celebration of life gathering will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 3pm-7:30pm at St. Mary's Church, 26 Dodgingtown Rd, Bethel, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 31, 2024 at 10am at St. Mary's Church, 26 Dodgingtown Rd, Bethel, CT. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Lake Avenue Ext, Danbury, CT.
