Ronald Forbes Stewart

Ronald Forbes Stewart, 89, of New Milford, CT passed away peacefully on July 13, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Born May 20, 1935 in Dundee, Scotland, Ron lived a rich and fulfilling life spanning nearly 9 decades. Raised in Dundee, Ron was the 5th of  7 children born to Mary Ann Gellatley and David C. Stewart.

Ron joined the Royal Airforce and served for six years, two and half of which he served in Kenya. 

He moved to Stamford, CT in 1968, where he met his wife of almost 52 years, Mary Ann. They married July 14, 1972 and moved to New Milford in 1976 where they still reside. Ron was an active member of the First Congregational Church for more than 40 years, most notably in the choir, where he was able to nurture his love of music. Gatherings and parties never felt complete without Ron, his guitar, music book & stand. He had such sweet, clear and honest vocals which mimicked his personality.   He was a good friend, Great husband, amazing father, extraordinary “Pa” and fabulous “Big Grandpa”.

Ron’s legacy is carried on by his collection of family and friends who will forever continue to honor his memory. His kindness, wisdom, sense of humor and gentle spirit touched all who knew him. 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 19 at 4:00pm at the First Congregational Church in New Milford, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to First Congregational Church of New Milford in Ronald’s name. He will be deeply missed but well remembered by all who have had the privilege to meet him.
