Ronald Alves Obituary

Ronald L. Alves “Ronnie”, of Danbury, CT, died suddenly on Tuesday May 24, 2022 at home after a valiant three year battle with cancer. He was 56 years old.

Born on September 19, 1965 in Danbury, CT, son of the late Luiz B. Alves and Florence L. (Beck) Alves. He attended Danbury High School and later graduated from culinary school.

Ronnie began working at the young age of 14 at a local convenience store. He tried his hand at many different jobs throughout his lifetime and was promoted to supervisor several times throughout his career. No matter what job he had and where, he was consistently hard working, reliable, and was not one to call out sick.

Ronnie was a huge sports fan. He enjoyed watching basketball, football and loved his NY Yankees.  He also enjoyed reading the Daily News and New York Post.  He was an avid movie watcher. He watched all genres, but action movies were his favorite. Ronnie enjoyed cooking, especially his “big steaks”.  When his sister Janice was in town, he lived for her lasagna.

Ronnie loved his family, friends and church family. He looked forward to family gatherings, and especially enjoyed interacting with the kids. He always looked forward to his weekly calls with his uncle Dick, his long time friend Randy and visits from his cousins. He was grateful for the incredible love and support he received from his siblings, and various family members and friends.

Despite cancer and the restrictions of Covid, Ronnie maintained an inspiringly positive attitude.  He remained steadfast in his faith in Jesus Christ.  He loved the Lord, and was able to endure all of these hardships by his faith in God. He prayed and read the Word of God daily.  His biggest and most recent goal was to resume in-person attendance to his church at Brookfield First Assembly of God.  As a believer in Christ Ronnie has the best seat in the house now.  “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord”.  2 Corinthians 5:8

Ronnie is survived by his loving siblings; Janice Correa and her husband Alex of Little River, SC, Donnet Peterson and her husband Walter of Danbury, CT and Thomas Caprio and his wife Marie of Bethel, CT, several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his older brother Joey, and his niece Karie .
