Roland Dominique Cloutier

Roland (Dominique) Cloutier, 94, of Danbury, husband of the late Rita Nadeau Cloutier, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022 with his family by his side.  He is the son of Walter Cloutier, Sr. and Alice Dumont. 

 Roland was born in Lewiston, Maine on April, 17, 1928. There he met the love of his life and wife for 57 years. As a young man, he was employed as a textile weaver for the Bates Mill.  In 1953, he moved his family to San Fernando Valley in California.  He worked at retail sales jobs before joining RCA as a television and appliance repair man. In 1960, he transferred to Buffalo NY, a year later to Norwalk CT, then lived in Danbury CT for 29 years. After retirement from RCA, he enjoyed the social aspect of owning a liquor store and City of Danbury employment where he chatted with police and library staff. 

Roland enjoyed many great years in Palm Bay, FL retiring with his loving wife where he could spoil her at their favorite restaurants, play cards with friends and spend time with family. Upon Rita’s passing, he returned to Danbury in 2008 with daughter Doris Cloutier and her husband Allan Riedinger. There he enjoyed lake living, cribbage games, eating out and visits to Vermont with the family. 

Roland was fun loving and sweet and will be greatly missed by so many including his children, Paul Cloutier and wife Gina of Boca Raton FL; Doris Riedinger and husband Allan of Danbury CT. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; Heather and Amanda Riedinger and Jeffery Cloutier and the many friends who kept him company throughout the years. He is predeceased by his brothers, Roger and Walter Cloutier and his sisters Yolande and Reine Cloutier.   

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Regional Hospice of Danbury who helped make the best of his last days at home.

He will be joining Rita at Fountainhead Memorial Park in Palm Bay, Florida in the coming months.
