Rodney Nunez Benitez Obituary

Rodney Angel Nunez Benitez, of Sherman, CT, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday morning June 2, 2024. He was 20 years old.

Born on June 1, 2004 in Danbury, CT, son of Roberto A. Nunez and Eleny R. Benitez, and brother of Randy R.Benitez.

Rodney was a busser/waiter at American Pie Restaurant in Sherman, CT. He was a former football and baseball player at New Fairfield High School, where he graduated in 2018. Rodney was currently entering his junior year at Western Connecticut State University where he was studying Justice & Law. He enjoyed life and all the things that came with it: listening to reggaeton music, was a huge fan of the New York Mets and Los Tigres del Licey,  loved making other people laugh, playing Playstation with his friends, was a sports fanatic, was very passionate of his culture and being Dominican, training at Powerhouse Gym in Brewster, and always made sure he was the best dressed everywhere he went! Rodney always appreciated everyone who was willing to help him!

Rodney is not only survived by his parents Roberto and Eleny but also his big brother Randy, his grandma Tata, his uncle Peter, his aunt Marilyn, and many friends and family.  His name and legacy will be carried on and not forgotten.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday June 6, 2024 from 5pm-8pm at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street). A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 7 at 9 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (29 Golden Hill Road). Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery (20 Ellsworth Avenue). 


Rodney Angel Núñez Benítez, de Sherman, CT, falleció inesperadamente en su casa el domingo 2 de junio de 2024 por la mañana. Tenía 20 años.

Nacido el 1 de junio de 2004 en Danbury, CT, hijo de Roberto A. Nunez y Eleny R. Benitez, y hermano de Randy R.Benitez.

Rodney era mesero en el restaurante American Pie en Sherman, CT. Fue jugador de fútbol y béisbol en New Fairfield High School, donde se graduó en 2018. Rodney actualmente estaba ingresando a su tercer año en Western Connecticut State University. Disfrutaba la vida y todo lo que conllevaba: escuchaba música reggaetón, era un gran fanático de los Mets de Nueva York y de Los Tigres del Licey, le encantaba hacer reír a los demás, jugaba Playstation con sus amigos, era un fanático de los deportes, era Muy apasionado de su cultura y de ser dominicano, entrenando en Powerhouse Gym en Brewster, ¡y siempre se aseguraba de ser el mejor vestido dondequiera que fuera! ¡A Rodney siempre se le agradeció a todos los que estaban dispuestos a ayudarlo!

A Rodney no solo le sobreviven sus padres Roberto y Eleny, sino también su hermano mayor Randy, su Tata, y Tio Peter y Titi Marilyn y mucho mas amigos y familiares.  Su nombre y legado permanecerán y no se olvidarán.

Se llevará a cabo una celebración de la vida el jueves 6 de junio de 2024 de 5 p. m. a 8 p. m. en Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street). Se celebrará una misa de cristiana sepultura el viernes 7 de junio a las 9 am en la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (29 Golden Hill Road). Seguirá el entierro en el cementerio Wooster (20 Ellsworth Avenue).
