Robert Williams Jr, of Danbury, CT died peacefully with his daughter Marie by his side at Danbury Hospital on July 30, 2023. He was 83 years old.
Born on September 10, 1939 in Bethel, North Carolina son to the late Robert and Irene Williams. Robert was raised with love by his aunt and uncle Julius and Josephine Stanley.
Robert moved to Danbury, CT in 1961, that’s where he met the love of his life Violene Harris. Violene predeceased Robert on September 17, 1998. Robert was a machine operator with Shephard warehouse for 23 years and continued his career at Fairfield Processing for 15 more years before retiring in 2004.
Robert was the “I KNOW’ man. He was a jokester and enjoyed making people laugh. He enjoyed playing baseball with the Danbury Pirates. Robert enjoyed entertaining his family and friends, especially with a good BBQ. He enjoyed being outdoors in his garden and fishing.
Mr. Williams is survived by his loving children; Marie Staton of Tarboro, NC, Mary Harrison of Danbury, CT, Helen Jean Harris of Danbury, CT, Marvin G. Harris of Danbury, CT, Frances Harris of Virginia Beach, VA, Carolyn Harris of Danbury, CT and James Harris of Danbury, CT, his brother Milton Williams, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son John Henry Smith, his granddaughter Tiffany Staton and his sisters; Irene, Mary, Martha.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church from 10am-11am. A going home service will begin at 11am. Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery (Ellsworth Avenue, Danbury).
