Richard A Holmes

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard Holmes announce his passing on May 13, 2025. He was 74 years old. Richard was born on May 26, 1950 to MacAdam & Evelyn Holmes. He grew up in Redding, CT and graduated from Joel Barlow High School.

He was an avid softball player, and passed the love of the game on to his daughter. He was a life time member of the West Redding Fire Department and the family owned Meg’s Flower Farm for several years.

He will be greatly missed and survived by his daughter Meghan Holmes, his granddaughter Teagan Coughlin and Meghan’s Mother Sharon Peterson.

In Lieu of flowers Richard had asked that any donations be made to his granddaughters scholarship fund for her schooling. Teagan’s education was very important to him and he always invested in it. The fund is set up for her at Ives Bank account number 66519748.

There will be a graveside service that will be held at Umpawaug Cemetery on 149 Umpawaug Rd, Redding, CT 06896 on Wednesday May 21,2025 at 11:00 am followed by a celebration of life at the West Redding Fire Department 306 Umpawaug Rd, Redding, CT 06896. Everyone is invited to attend.
