Peter G. Rice

Peter G. Rice passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at Danbury Hospital. He was born on December 16, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Winfred Allen and Gerard Rice.

Peter dedicated many years of service to the New York City Transit Authority, where he worked as a dispatcher before retiring. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including playing the lottery and spending cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Lori Rice. He leaves behind his loving children: Cari Smiley (Chad), Kristi Coleman, Christopher Rice (Dana), Peter Rice, and Jennifer Rice. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan O’Neill and Judy Gurdal.

Peter was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren: Jessica, Dennis (Aundrea), John, Thomas Jr., Brianna, Christopher Jr., Mia, Karter, Kingsley, Harper, and Ava; and a great-grandfather to four: Adriannah, Trinity, Emma, and Leo. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Road, Danbury, CT, on April 16th 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will follow at the Sterling Woods Clubhouse, 117 Silversmith Drive, Danbury, CT.
