Peter Panish, 82, of Wilton, Connecticut, passed away on September 13, 2025 surrounded by family.
Pete, as he preferred to be called, was born on April 13, 1943 in Manhattan, New York, to Charles and Caroline Panish (Gubba). He grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut, and attended the former Fitch Elementary School and Nathan Hale Middle School in Norwalk, Connecticut. He graduated from J.M. Wright Technical High School in Stamford, Connecticut, in 1962. He attended Central Connecticut State University and earned his teaching certificate. He taught for over three decades at Ella T. Grasso Technical High School in Groton, Connecticut, where he retired as the Department Head of Plumbing and Heating, and served as President of Panish Plumbing and Heating in Mystic, Connecticut.
He married Marlene Panish (Patterson) on May 17, 1985 in Deep River, Connecticut. He is survived by children Michelle Panish, Marla Posey, April Panish, Eric Panish, Jeffrey Jones (Larissa), and Candace Solis (Rene); grandchildren Jordan Baran (Michael), Miranda Agosto, Justin Agosto, Reyer Jones (Jaclyn), Alex and Zachary Solis; great grandchild Kaia Agosto; and brother Richard Panish.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene Panish, and his parents, Charles and Caroline Panish.
Pete will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor; pride in his children and grandchildren; and love of animals, boating, fishing, hunting, playing poker, golfing, movies, and fantastic seafood.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
