Paul Edward Gilbert, a lifelong resident of Danbury, CT, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home with his wife by his side on September 16, 2024. He was 71 years old.
He was born on December 11, 1952 in Danbury, CT, son of the late Joseph and Doris (Terry) Gilbert. Paul graduated from Brookfield High School. He married the love of his life Lynne O’Hare on June 11, 1977.
As an avid skier and a proud member of the Danbury Ski Club, he spent countless winters carving down mountains, enjoying the crisp air and freedom of the slopes. This passion extended to teaching others, as Paul joyfully worked as a ski school instructor, sharing his expertise and instilling a love of the sport in countless students over the years.
In addition to skiing, Paul was actively involved in youth sports as a coach, referee and umpire as well as a player in several local sports clubs. He found joy in helping others grow not just in skill but in character. Whether on the football field, baseball diamond, or basketball court, Paul was a patient, encouraging mentor who believed in the value of teamwork and sportsmanship.
He was a Mechanical Designer for various local companies before retiring.
Paul is not only survived by his beloved wife, Lynne, but also his children, Jason Gilbert, Kristen Moulis and Taralyn Ott. His grandchildren Jaxon Gilbert, Quinn Gilbert and Easton Moulis, step grandchildren Hannah, Mason and Carter Helfman; and his siblings Diane Foshay and William Gilbert. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Michael Gilbert.
