It is with great sorrow that we share that Patrick Purcell died peacefully on May 6, 2026 at the age of 78. Patrick loved life and fought bravely to stay in this world as long as he could after battling Glioblastoma cancer for almost a year. 

Patrick's life was filled with fun, adventure, music, family and creativity.

Born on October 17, 1947 in New Rochelle, NY, son of the late James and Geraldine (Ryan) Purcell, Patrick grew up in a large family, the third of 11 children. Patrick honorably served in the US Army in Germany. While stationed in Germany he ran arts and craft clinics for his fellow soldiers. 

Patrick graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a BA in jewelry and from University of Arkansas with a MFA in sculpture. Patrick was an accomplished professional jeweler and sculptor. He showed his work at numerous galleries and sold his art locally and internationally and won numerous awards recognizing his talent.  Many of his loved ones cherish jewelry that he crafted for them. Patrick was a creator to his core and continued to create new work even in the depth of his illness.

Patrick was an inspiration to so many! He was full of life and always ready to bring on the party. He was a kind man with a gentle and sweet smile. He adored his family, particularly his grandchildren, and they loved his playful spirit. He will be greatly missed.

Patrick is survived by his beloved wife and best friend for over 53 years, Laura Purcell; his two daughters, Colleen and Allison and their spouses J.D Williams and Jon Tomb; his grandchildren, Julia Williams, Lyra Williams, and Emmett Tomb; his siblings, Jim, Tom, Gerry (McGuirk), Bill, Maryjane (Riley), Vinny, Joe, George; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Geraldine and James; his siblings, John and Bob; and his nephew, Sean Purcell. 

A celebration of life will be held at Candlewood Point Beach.
