Pamela Waugh Obituary

Pamela Anne Martin Waugh, age 69, passed away on February 27, 2026.

Pam was born on June 16, 1956, in Port Chester, New York. She later moved to Connecticut, where she spent her childhood in New Fairfield. A resident of New Milford, Connecticut, and formerly of Fairfield, Connecticut, Pam lived a life defined by devotion to her family, her friends, her patients, and her great love — her husband, Bruce Randolph Waugh, who predeceased her.

Pam leaves behind her beloved daughter, Hillary Waugh Bruce, and her three cherished grandchildren, Audrey Alissa, Callum, and Beatrice, who were the absolute light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings: Peter Martin (Josephine), Deidre M. Sommerer, William J. Martin, III (Jennifer), and Kyle A. Martin (Marisa). She leaves behind loving nieces and nephews — Derek Martin (Nicole), Kelly Martin, Samantha Hasenflue (Rob), Jonathan Sommerer (Makayla), Madeline Martin (Eric), and Hallie Martin (Emily), as well as her great-nephews Klaus Hasenflue, Kayden and Connor Martin.

Pam is also survived by her stepmother, Carolyn Martin, former brother-in-law, Eric Sommerer, and her dear cousins, Richard Kalk, Bruce Kalk, Laura Smits, Timothy Morris, and Grant Morris, along with their families. She deeply treasured her large and close-knit family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey R. Martin and William J. Martin, Jr.Pam was a graduate of Danbury High School and received an associate’s degree in nursing from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing. She spent her professional life as a Registered Nurse specializing in geriatrics. She cared for her patients with deep compassion, dignity, and respect, bringing comfort not only to them but to their families. Earlier in her career, Pam proudly spun records for CBS — a reflection of her lifelong love of music.

Pam and Bruce were dedicated “Dead Heads,” joyfully following the Grateful Dead across the country and building friendships and memories along the way. Music, community, and shared experience were central to her spirit. She loved the beach, especially the family’s annual vacations to Cape Cod. She was an avid viewer of PBS, never missing Masterpiece Theatre, and appreciated storytelling in all its forms.

Pam will be remembered for her quick wit, her dry sense of humor, and her ability to deliver the perfect understated remark at just the right moment. She brought warmth, intelligence, and authenticity into every room she entered.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift to your local PBS station or a food security organization in her honor.

In the Grateful Dead lyrics she loved: “A box of rain will ease the pain, and love will see you through.”
