Nancy A Richiell 

April 28, 1965-July, 16, 2024 

Nancy A Richiell, 59, of Brookfield CT, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, at Danbury Hospital on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. 

Nancy was a graduate of Danbury High School. When Nancy turned 18 she found her new home and extended family in an Ability Beyond group home eventually settling in at North Pleasant Rise in Brookfield where she has been loved and cared for.  In her younger years Nancy was an eager participant in the Special Olympics and would often proudly show off her medals.  She also was a lover of music and loved to sing.  Her day was not complete without a cup of Dunkin coffee and a donut. 

Nancy was predeceased by her mother Doris A Richiell.  She leaves behind her Father Peter, sisters Linda Leach (Leigh) and Donna Richiell, 6 nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  In addition Nancy leaves behind her extended Ability family and her many housemates and staff both past and present.  The family wishes to thank the Ability Beyond staff for the amazing love and care she received.  In addition the family would like to thank the staff and nurses at New Milford Hospital Diebold Family Cancer Center, Danbury Hospital Emergency Department and Danbury Hospital inpatient oncology for their compassionate care. 

A celebration of life gathering will take place on Saturday, July 27 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St. Danbury, CT 06810) from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a service to begin at 12:00pm. Inurnment will be at a later date in Westerly Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Ability Beyond (4 Berkshire Blvd. Bethel, CT 06801)
