Michael F. Tomanio, of Danbury, CT, died peacefully with his family by his side at Danbury Hospital on September 9, 2023. He was 66 years old.
Mike was born on February 10, 1957 in Danbury, CT to the late Audrey (Muhrenburg) and Samuel A. Tomanio, Sr. He attended Danbury Schools.
Mike was married to the love of his life Gabriella Russotti for the last 34 years, where they created a happy and joyful life together.
He owned and operated Tomanio’s Luncheonette, the Carousel Diner and M & M Grinders at the Elephants Trunk Flea Market which encompassed his love of cooking.
Mike retired from the restaurant business in 1996 and then worked for the State of Connecticut at both Southbury Training School and Henry Abbot Technical School.
He enjoyed going to car shows, watching sports, spending time with his family and his golden retriever, Buddy.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Gabriella, his son, Michael Jr., as well as his siblings Samuel A. Tomanio (Gemma), Barbara Geraldi, Anthony Tomanio (Susan), William Tomanio, Cheryl Ogrisek (Brian) and Ronald Tomanio (Karen).
He was also survived by several nieces and nephews, his mother in law Matilde Russotti as well as the entire Russotti family. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Tomanio.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Thursday September 14, 2023 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street) from 5pm-7pm. A service will begin around 6:30 pm. A private cremation was held prior.
