Michael Melvin Poletynski, of Bethel, CT, passed away at home on March 5, 2025. He was 78 years old.
Born on May 20, 1946 in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Michael and Doris (Raley) Poletynski. Michael graduated from Towson State Teachers College with a bachelor’s degree in English.
Michael married the love of his life, Theresa Brady, in 1993. He taught in the Baltimore County Public School system at Parkville Senior High School for 26 years, serving as both educator and yearbook advisor. Upon completion of his teaching career, he led the yearbook division for LifeTouch photography for an additional 25 years. His prolific work and lifetime dedication to his students, colleagues and friends positively impacted so many across the community. Over the years, Michael’s passions included golf, reading, photography and taking care of his family.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife Theresa, step-daughter Sarah Brady, son-in-law Niwath Chhun, grandson Lincoln Chhun, brother Dale Poletynski, sisters-in-law Cheryl Poletynski and Jeanette Poletynski as well as multiple nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also the brother of the late Dennis Poletynski.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM ET at Mountainbranch Golf Club, The Founders Room (1827 Mountain Rd, Joppa, MD 21085).
