Michael Carl Moore, 62, of New London, Connecticut, returned home to his Lord and Savior on December 12, 2023, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was born on June 25, 1961, in Eden Mississippi to Mack Arthur Moore Sr. and Etta Ruth (Stovall) Moore. Michael was the oldest of six children.
Michael attended Danbury Public Schools and played area sports to include basketball, football, and baseball. He was especially known for being a good pitcher and received many awards when in school. A huge part of his love for sports was being a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. It was joyful for him to wear his Cowboys hat or shirts with much pride.
Michael, also affectionally known as “Poncho” by family and friends was a person who had a vibrant personality. As with his parents and siblings, he had a humorous spirit and always liked to tell a good joke and have a good laugh. You would always find him smiling and saying something funny to lighten the mood. He loved to cook and held previous jobs as a chef, and would always talk about his delicious creations. Something that both of his boys Joey and Josh inherited from him.
Michael was predeceased by his parents Mack Arthur and Etta Ruth Moore.
Michael’s spirit will continue to bless us through the lives of his children: Michael Moore Jr., Marcus Moore, Gabriella Irby, Joseph Michael Moore, and Joshua Stephen Moore. His memory will also continue to live through his brothers: Vincent E. Moore (Hazel), Mack Moore Jr., Ronald G. Moore, Christian A. Moore (Dezaree), and his sister: Cynthia A. Moore. A grandson Jalen Wilder and a special niece Nakiesha Moore, and friend Diana Brown.
Michael also had a special bond with Lisa Cygan, of whom he shared parental responsibilities with.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church (12 Dr Aaron B Samuels Blvd, Danbury, CT 06810), Friday December 22, 2023, with a public viewing at 10:00 am, and a Home Going Celebration immediately afterwards at 11:00 am. A private burial will follow.
