Merlin W. Rogotzke of Southbury, CT, died peacefully on August 21, 2024 in Newtown, CT. He was 83 years old.
Born on June 6, 1941 in Belview, Minnesota, son of the late Walter and Claira Rogotzke. On January 1, 1964 he married the love of his life, Judith McKay. Judith predeceased Merlin in 2019. Together Judith and Merlin and their first-born son moved to Danbury, CT in 1969.
Shortly after moving to Danbury, Merlin founded his own company, Merlin Maintenance. Merlin took great pride in his work, he was a hard and dedicated worker, only taking two days off in a year; Christmas and his wedding anniversary. Merlin was a people person; he enjoyed the company of others. He was a very witty person and enjoyed telling jokes that made you shake your head.
Merlin is survived by his loving sons; Todd and Bruce (Brenda), his four grandchildren; Brandon, Aaron, Jacob and Lucas and his sister Mavis Stark. He was not only predeceased by his beloved wife Judith but also his daughter Joy in 2021.
A private cremation will take place. Danbury Memorial Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
