Maureen (Rowe) Shears passed away November 8, 2022, after a brave and valiant fight with cancer at her home in New Milford surrounded by her loving family. Born February 7, 1958 to Nancy (Neese) and William J Rowe in Norwalk, Ct, she spent many of her younger years in Norwalk. A few years after the untimely death of her father, her family moved to New Milford, CT. After high school, she met Jeffrey Shears and on November 27, 1976 they married, and he survives. Maureen spent her life selflessly helping others, and thoroughly enjoyed her long career as a home health aide. Her patients started off as clients but ended up as family. It was very important to her that her patients be able to stay at home, for as long as possible. Her compassion and services were well sought after, and she was very well respected in her profession. She loved her pets, and leaves behind her bodyguard, Allie, and Allies sidekick Peaches, who will truly miss her.
More than helping others, Maureen loved her family. She really enjoyed cooking for her family and showing her love through the food she prepared. We will all miss the meals she cooked but will enjoy her recipes for years to come. A wonderful gift, that will continue to be passed from generation to generation. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Jeffrey A. Shears of New Milford CT, daughter Kimberly (Brent) Friend and her children Evan, Alison, Jacob, Luke and William of Lake Wylie, SC, son Jeffrey Jr (Alison) and their children Colby, Connor and Cara of New Milford CT, son William “Billy” of New Milford CT, sister Laurie (Dick) Lepage of New Milford, dear friends and companions Martine (Ed) of Goshen, Judith Kelly and multiple nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents Nancy and William Rowe, sister Bridgett Kuhne, granddaughter Amy Friend, nephews Mike LePage, and Mike Bodyl, multiple in-laws, beloved clients and pets.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday November 29, 2022 at Christ Church (1 North St., Roxbury CT) at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to New Milford Animal Welfare Society, 8 Dodd Rd New Milford, CT 06776.
