Mary Agnes (Stalb) Foley peacefully departed this world at Danbury Hospital on December 19, 2023, at the age of 84. Born on November 24, 1939, in Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY, Mary was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph Gerald Stalb and Mary Emma (Donovan) Stalb. She embarked on her journey through life with passion and tenacity, known by her friends and family as the life of the party.
From the earliest chapters of Mary’s life, it was clear she wasn’t one to settle for mediocrity. Her journey started at Ridgefield High School, where she not only received the Betty Crocker award but also made her mark as a standout player for the Ridgefield Tigers basketball team.
Later, she became a broker and opened US Homes with her best friend. US Homes became a highly successful staple for real estate in the region before being acquired by Prudential, where she continued to share her expertise in the local real estate market. Mary then carried on her career as an agent with William Pitt-Sotheby’s, where she served for many fulfilling years, continuing to receive rewards and accolades for her success, ultimately earning her a well-deserved spot on the national board of realtors. In her spare time, she volunteered at Danbury Hospital's Gift Shop, reflecting her commitment to community service.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Mary was a creative soul who channeled her artistic talents through many mediums, with favorites being painting, drawing, interior decorating, and later in life she also found a love of writing poems and short stories. She was a spirited and competitive woman who played tennis and squash. But above all else, her happiest moments were spent with family, orchestrating summer trips to Rhode Island where everyone could gather and create lasting memories.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Albano, and Jeanne Albano-Carmichael; her cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Pereira, Alexandra Pereira, Cheyenne Orsi, Casey Albano, Nazareth Abric, Nick Albano, Taylor Seri, and Jason Albano; and her great-grandchildren, Tucker Pereira, Emilia Pereira, James Repasi III, and Jonah Seri.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street, Danbury) from 2 pm to 4 pm. The family held a private cremation in Mary's honor.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Mary's life, marked by love, creativity, and family, will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in her journey.
