Mary Lou Conley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, left us on November 6, 2024, after a long and courageous battle. She was 85 years old.
Throughout her life, she showed unwavering strength and determination. She was a fighter in every sense of the word. In the end she fought not for herself, but for the sake of her family. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her resilience and fight.
Mary Lou’s love story began as a teenager, when she met her husband, Robert Conley, while working together at Howard Johnson’s. They were married for more than 65 years, building a life filled with countless memories.
Mary Lou had a natural gift for connecting with people, and she carried that warmth into every job she had. She worked her entire life in service to others, from her time at The Hearth Restaurant, to Union Savings Bank, and later at ShopRite. Mary Lou thrived on connecting with people. Her “regulars” became her friends, and her friends became her family. Her kindness, generosity, and ability to make others feel like they mattered were traits that defined her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Sharon and her fiancé Dean, and Robert Jr. and his wife Danielle. One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother to Cole and Corey, who brought boundless light and happiness into her life. She will also be missed by cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy, and was predeceased by her sister, Arlene Carr.
Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched and in the enduring legacy of kindness she leaves behind.
A service will be held at Prince of Peace Church on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with a private burial to follow at a later date. MaryLou was deeply committed to various charities supporting children, veterans, and animals. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to Regional Hospice or to a charity that holds special meaning to you.
