Marlene H. Ruiz, of Bethel, CT, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 15, 2025. She was 87 years old.
Born on March 20, 1938 in North Conway, New Hampshire, daughter of the late Karl and Adeline (Johnson) Heim. Marlene spent her childhood in Lovell, Maine before moving to Danbury in 1950. Marlene was a graduate of Danbury High Schools class of 1956. To this day she still had lunch each month with a group of former classmates - a mini high school reunion.
Marlene married the love of her life, Anthony “Tony” Ruiz Jr. on October 5th, 1963. Together they moved to Bethel in 1975 where they raised their family and loved each other unconditionally.
Marlene worked for the Town of Bethel as a probate court clerk for 20 years before retiring. She was musically gifted being able to play piano, organ and trombone. Marlene was a loyal friend, evident by the numerous “lunch” friends that are too many to name. She still played cards each week with the same beloved longstanding friends Annette Rebeiro, Laurette Sharp and Gail DeBonis for over 60 years. Marlene was always there watching and supporting her children and grandchildren at all their events. She became an avid University of Georgia football fan where her grandchildren all graduated. She enjoyed her trips with her family to the various area casinos and always seemed to beat the house.
Marlene is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Tony, her children: Dina (David) Ruiz, Anthony Ruiz III and Stephen (Colleen) Ruiz, her grandchildren; Brendan, Katherine and Emma, her dear sister and best friend; Christine Robinson (Robert), half-sister Jackie Farkas and several nieces and nephews.
A private cremation will be held. Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street) assisted the family with arrangements.
