Marlene Ann Nash age 84 died on Thursday, October 21st of complications from a stroke.  She was the daughter of the late Ann and Lawrence Ryan of Danbury.  She was granddaughter to Mary and John Manacek.  She was born in Danbury and lived there until she moved to Bethel in 1965.  She is survived by her loving husband Joseph Nash of Bethel, CT whom she has been married to for 65 years.

She was the mother of the late Kimberly Nash Ruby, and her husband Joseph Ruby of Torrington and grandchildren Sarah Ruby Leonard, and her husband Mike Leonard of Goshen, and Tyler Ruby of Torrington.  She adored her great grandson Reed Leonard.  She was the mother of Jill Nash Marciello of Hanover, MA, and her husband Robert Marciello and grandchild Jordan Marciello Beksha and her husband Patrick Beksha of Norwell, MA.  She was the sister of Lawrence Ryan Jr. and his wife Evelyn and their family.  She was close with family members and their children: the late Mary Guzy and her husband Mike;  the late Olga Gavell and her husband Charlie; the late John Manacek and his wife Evelyn.  She was the sister-in-law to Corrine and the late Arthur Sims of Tampa FL, Mary Jane and the late Paul Baker of Southbury, CT and the late Thomas Nash. She will miss her many nieces and nephews.

Marlene graduated from Danbury High School in 1955 and was a member of the Theta Iota and Fro Delta Fro sororities.  She was a past president and member of the Junior Service League in Danbury and she enjoyed helping children spending many hours in the well child clinic.  Marlene was always stylish and classy.  She was an avid reader of mostly biographies especially about presidents.  She had an artful eye for unique treasures and a talent for decorating her home beautifully.  She loved to stroll through HomeGoods on a regular basis.  She loved feeding and watching the birds.  She made great  cottage cheese with noodles and chicken divon.  She enjoyed watching the UCONN Huskies basketball games.

For many years Marlene worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Danbury Visiting Nurses and also for Bethel Health Care.  When younger she played the accordion at all Czechoslovakian family events.

Marlene was a kind and loyal person who valued her home, family, friends and wonderful neighbors that she had.

Marlene loved animals and always tried to help those in need.   In lieu of flowers, she preferred donations to:  Danbury Animal Welfare Society, 147 Grassy Plain Street, Bethel, CT 06801.
