Mark A. Hoefer, 63, of New Milford, CT, passed away at Danbury Hospital on December 21, 2025. Affectionately known as “Buck” to his family and friends, he was born in Excelsior, Minnesota, to Robert and Edna Hoefer (Crabtree).
Buck loved cars, snow and water skiing, camping, sailing, and taking his family to Lake George, New York—experiences that became the source of many fond memories. He took great pride in keeping his living space tidy and organized and was a role model as a strong person and loving father. There was no better example of someone who would give you the shirt off his back, even if he had none to begin with. Mark lived and loved every day like it was his last, always finding light even in the hardest moments.
Buck leaves behind the love of his life, Kelly Ann Hoefer (Portella). He also leaves to carry on his legacy his children and their families: Mark and Cara Cobalt; Sean Hoefer; Keith and Emily Hoefer; and James Hoefer and his soon-to-be wife, Matilda. In addition, he is survived by his siblings: Ken Hoefer, Carol Goldstein, Tom Hoefer, Janet Hoefer Calcinari, Jay Hoefer, and Juli Venditti. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Alexandra, Cameron, and Anthony Hoefer.
Services will be held at Saint Francis Xavier Church in New Milford, CT, on January 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and are open to the public.
