Maria Conceicão DeSousa

Maria da Conceição de Medeiros Cabral DeSousa passed away on January 6, 2020 while surrounded by her loving family at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. Maria was born on April 21,1934 in São Miguel, Azores, Portugal to the late Adelina Salvador Cabral de Medeiros and Manuel Cabral de Medeiros. Beloved wife of 57 years to Manuel Fernandes DeSousa.
 
Maria lived a full life as a wonderful mother, devoted to her children first and foremost, treasured her husband, and loved her role as grandma. Azorean at heart, gardening was her  passion. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and made friends everywhere she went. Dedicated homemaker, loved to cook, bake and was skilled in sewing, knitting and crocheting. Most of all she loved her family and her travels to the Azores.

Maria is survived by her husband Manuel Fernandes DeSousa and three children; son José F. Sousa (Elizabeth), daughter Diamantina Sousa, and son Joaõ M. Sousa (Jill). Brother Adelino Medeiros, sister Laura Carvalho, and sister Eduarda Ponte. As well as her six grandchildren; Jose, Matthew, and Isabelle Sousa, Manuel Dakota Rodriguez, Samantha, and Katheryn Sousa and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her three brothers; Gilberto, Jose, and Manuel Cabral, and 1 sister; Maria Alexandrina.

A Visitation will be held on Friday January 10, 2020 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St, Danbury CT 06810) from 10 to 11 a.m. with a Prayer Service to begin at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Wooster Cemetery in Danbury, CT.
