Maria Georgina Fernandez Colon

Maria Georgina Fernandez Colón passed away on May 15, 2023 at her residence in Danbury, 
Connecticut. Maria was born on April 20, 1942 in Juncalito Janico, Dominican Republic to the late 
Modesta Fernandez and Juan Nepomuceno Dilone.
Maria enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, cooking, telling stories about 
her early life in Dominican Republic, and watching the news while drinking her morning coffee. 
Maria was the strongest, hardworking, dedicated, and loving woman. She had the biggest heart and 
the kindest soul, willing to help anyone in need. Her imprint on everyone’s hearts will live on.
Maria is survived by her beloved children: Frances Colón, Daniel DeJesus Colón, Héctor Colón, and 
Bernarda Colón, her stepson Tomas Nunez, and predeceased by her stepsons Menelio Nunez and 
Pedro Nunez. Her siblings: Antonia, Rosajulia, Leusipio, Irene, Obidio, and Francisco. She is also 
survived by all her beloved grandchildren Katherine, Jade, Gina, Melvin, Jenifer, Naysha, Jailene, 
Jorge, Yilenny, Cristian and Carmen ; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Friday May 19, 2023 from 11:00 am to to 1:00 pm. 
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:00 pm at the Danbury Memorial Funeral Home  117 South St Danbury Ct. Burial will immediately follow at Wooster Cemetery 20 Ellsworth Ave Danbury CT 06810.
