Maria E. Cadena

Maria E. Cadena of Danbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by love  on October 13, 2024. She was born on May 23, 1949 in Monseñor Nouel  Bonao in  the Dominican Republic to Horacio Marchena and Estela Peña de Marchena.  Maria worked as a Medical Lab Technician at Centro Sanitario Santo Domingo for many years, and migrated to the United States with her two daughters in 1995. In the US, she worked for various corporations in Danbury but her love and compassion for children let her to work as a babysitter later in life.  Maria enjoyed spending time knitting, creating hair accessories and attending church.

Quick to help anyone in need, always loving, kind, compassionate, loved for helping the less fortunate, cheerful, optimistic, charismatic, comedian. In her presence you were never sad, always putting herself last. She would  make anyone laugh at her jokes, even if you didn’t  speak Spanish.  Her contagious laughter filled the room. Woman of God, constantly concerned about the needs of others, great neighbor, friend, sister, daughter and the best mother anyone could ask for. She will  forever be in our hearts and minds. She is survived by her two daughters, Godiva Mitchell and Julissa Cadena. Her brothers: Gerson Marchena and Adalberto Marchena and her sister Ermila de Gonzalez.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Wednesday October 16th, 2024 from 9:30am to 11:00am, followed with a Life Gathering Service at 11:00am, at The Danbury Memorial Funeral Home, located at 117 South Street, Danbury, CT 06810.To light a candle or to leave a condolence, please visit danburymemorial.com
