Lawrence Henry Immohr reached his sunset peacefully on November 19, 2023 at the Danbury Hospital.
He was born December 17, 1947 to the late Dorothy and Herman Immohr in the Bronx, New York. He grew up in Jamaica, Queens, New York and spent summers with family in Stafford Springs, Connecticut.
Larry graduated from Western Connecticut State College in 1969. It was there he met his wife, Marie. They were married the weekend following their college graduation. Larry earned his Masters Degree from Norwich University, and was ABD from Pace University with a Doctorate degree in computers..
During Larry’s lifetime, he worked in varying jobs including Roto Rooter, Office Max, Sears, Perkin Elmer and several private technology companies. However, he most enjoyed his time as a professor at WesConn, where he taught Management Information Systems. His students referred to him as Dr. Immohr, a title that gave him immense satisfaction.
Larry pursued multiple hobbies. He loved telling stories and riddles. He was an avid reader of diverse subjects. He was also a scuba diving instructor for many years achieving master diver classification. A basement workshop kept him involved in woodworking and working with stained glass as well.
Larry was a kind, soft-spoken, generous man whom you may have met if a tall, white bearded man ever extended his hand holding a Kennedy half dollar to your child for good behavior. Or perhaps, your child sat on Santa’s lap at Ann’s Place Festival of the Trees in 2019 or 2023. Or possibly, it was at the Burnham Library in Bridgewater where he conducted woodworking workshops for boys and girls using hand tools to build bird feeders and marble mazes.
Larry is survived by his wife Marie of 54 years; his daughter, Susan, and son in law Josh and their three children Zac, Sam, and Becca; and by his son Dan. Larry has two brothers Phillip and Richard and their wives. In addition, are a sister in law Dianne and her husband, a brother in law Frankie, and a brother in law Michael and his wife. There are cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 17, 2023 at 2:00pm at the Congregational Church of Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Congregational Church of Brookfield Pastors Fund, which provides emergency funds to assist those in need, as Larry was dedicated to supporting this particular ministry.
