Lauren Marie Murphy passed away unexpectedly at Danbury Hospital on November 13, 2025. She was 55 years old.
Born on April 10, 1970 in Danbury, CT, daughter of Ronald J. and Joan (Brock) Saplio. Lauren graduated from New Milford High School in 1988 and continued her education at Fairfield University receiving her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and minor in mathematics. She married the love of her life Robert Murphy III on June 10, 1995.
Lauren was the director at Holy Infant Nursery School. She was an active parishioner at St. Francis Xavier Church. She loved her job, cooking and baking and spending time with her family. Family, to Lauren, was never just blood, she insured that there was always room for everyone at the table, plenty of food, a place to stay, and above all, a mom to love them – she had many more children than just her biological kids. Lauren loved the beach and spending days with her family there, her greatest joy being her two children and husband of over 30 years.
Lauren is lovingly survived by her husband Bob, her children; Colin Murphy and Kara Marie Murphy, her mother and father Ronald and Joan Saplio, her sister-in-law Kristin Saplio and her nephews Tyler Kevin Saplio and Ryan Joseph Saplio. She was predeceased by her brother Kevin in 2022.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 17, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Church (26 Chestnut Land Rd, New Milford), at 10am. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025 from 1pm-3pm at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South Street). Interment will be private.
