Kim Bong Hee passed away peacefully on May 24, 2022 at his home in Southbury, CT while surrounded by his loving family. Kim was born on November 3, 1930 in Kang Gae, North Korea to the late Ae Shin Song and (Insert Fathers Name). Beloved husband of Chang Soo Kim.
At the age of 18, he traveled down to South Korea with his older brother and settled down in Seoul, Korea. He entered Seung Moon High School in 1949. Not long after, he entered the South Korean Air Force. In 1955, he was one of the few selected to study at the Air Force academy located in Denver, Colorado where he received the National Selected Student Scholarship to study for 2 years. In 1958 he returned to South Korea where he was accepted to attend Hang Yang University, majoring in Electronic Engineering. He married his wife Chang Soo Kim, in 1959. Soon after they had their first child in 1960, and continued to welcome three more children after. He was discharged from the Air Force in 1968. In 1982, he immigrated to the United States with his family where he then became a successful grocery store owner of Meat Land in Yonkers, NY. Kim’s passion and dream in life was to be able to provide for his family and give them the beautiful life he believed they deserved.
In addition to his beloved wife, Chang, Kim is survived by their three children: son Jinwoo Kim (wife Soo Young Chae), son Jungwoo Kim (wife Young Sook Lim), daughter Gemma Kang (husband Kyeong Sang). Three granddughters: Yurie Kim, Nickie Kang, and Hyunjin Kim. Two grandsons: William Kim and Sydney Kang. As well as many additional cherished family members.
A Visitation Service will be held on Friday May 27, 2022 at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home (117 South St., Danbury CT 06810) from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:30 p.m. A Ceremonial Cremation Service will be held on Saturday May 28, 2022 at Brookside Memorial Crematory (200 Benson Rd, Middlebury CT 06762) at 10 a.m.
