Ki Chow Obituary

Ki Kai Chow moved beyond this life on October 30, 2023. He was born in China to Hin Buht Chow and Sung Ging Lo on October 29, 1929.

Ki Kai Chow was a very cultured man enjoying music of many eras from Chinese Opera, Cantonese music of the 1940s, to super popular English Pop Songs of the 80s.  He enjoyed Chinese poetry that he shared with his children.  He was an avid gardener of vegetables and landscape for many years with a particular eye for floral arrangements.

He was known to wake up early to gather with friends to do exercise in the park or just take morning strolls in sun, wind, rain, and even snow around the neighborhood.  He loved the company of his family for simple barbecues and dressing up for celebrations and outings in his best suits. He was a man with style.

Ki Kai Chow was a man of many traits that included a life-long learner attitude. In his earlier years he was an owner of a swim suit factory.  When he arrived in the states he lent a hand on many handyman projects, from trimming the landscape, to cutting and laying down stone work on the patio.  He was a skilled tailor and took much pride in his Chinese Calligraphy techniques.  In his older age, Ki Kai Chow learned to navigate the internet to seek the Hong Kong radio and use a cellular phone to stay in communications with family members.  He was even able to learn about the early warning signs of health concerns for himself on the internet to prompt his early diagnosis to extend his time with us.  His mind was sharp and agile even at the age of 90.   He was an adventurous man and enjoyed traveling around the world with his family.

As a father his children knew him to be an open-minded and progressive thinker of his time.  He was very supportive and often lent an ear to when his children seeked his opinion.  His children know him to be a responsible father and one that prioritized his family’s well being above nothing else.

Ki Kai Chow was a joyful grandfather and great-grandfather with a beatific smile and affection cheek pinch.  He was proud of each individual grandchild with an immense hope that they all stay close.  He taught them many things about their heritage and shared his love of good cooking and food.  His adventurous palate gave him an appreciation for different cultural cuisines.  A legacy and appetite he has passed down through many generations. He taught his family the power of resilience through the care he took of his two grandchildren after the loss of his eldest son, Kwok Ming Chow and his daughter-in-law Susanna Chow.    His love for his family taught many of the younger generations that love transcends beyond language and that there was many ways to show love.

His memory continues onwards through his many family members; including but not limited to, his spouse, Hing Kum Au, their children and accompanying sons and daughters in law: Kwok Wah Chau, Alice Chu, David Chu, Kwok Keung Chau, Yan Kit Chau-Leung, Fung Ying Chow, and Mike Kaltschnee

He is also survived by his grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer Rosenthal, Marc Rosenthal, Hill Chau, Joey Chu, Ronald Chow, Pearl Chow, Blenda Prak, Sivuthear Prak, Kenneth Chu, Hoi Ying Chau, Kiara Kaltschnee and Briana Kaltschnee, and also his great-grandchildren: Jason Pashalides, Taylor Pashalides, Gali Rosenthal, Aura Chow, Amichai Rosenthal, Ethan Prak, Aviel Rosenthal, Ausca Chow, ChanElise Prak, and Nili Rosenthal. He is also survived by his many other loving family members and friends.
