Kevin Peterson Obituary

Kevin Brian Peterson Sr., age 65, of Danbury, Connecticut peacefully passed away by natural causes at home on December 22, 2020. Everyone who knew this tall-kindhearted-man called him “Big Kevin”. Our beloved Big Kevin has graduated and moved to his Heavenly Home in glory with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On April 19, 1955, Kevin Brian Peterson was born to the late Winfield Peterson and Phoebe Mae (Tallman) Peterson Grimes in Danbury, Connecticut. During the Vietnam War, Kevin Brian Peterson honorably served as a Seaman Apprentice in the United States Navy aboard the USS Pigeon (ASR-21) in San Diego, California. “The USS Pigeon (ASR-21) was the lead ship of her submarine-rescue ship class. She was designed to operate with deep submergence rescue vehicles, her twin-hull enabled the rescue ship to have enhanced stability for deep-water operations and provide ample deck working-space whilst being able to maintain precise position over a disabled submarine during rescue operations. She also carried a McCann diving bell.” Kevin was awarded the National Defense Service Medal (NDSM). Kevin fulfilled the mission of the Navy to stand strong in the face of an enemy—with strength to weather all storms.

True to the mission of the Navy, Kevin Brian Peterson Sr. weathered the storms of life with strength, courage and honor. Big Kevin lived his life with truth and honesty. He had a great-guffaw-laugh with a good-sense-of-humor—that was his alone! He praised God Almighty in the mornings, loved and cherished his small family; and loved his friends and his entire family.

Along with his parents, Kevin Brian Peterson Sr. was predeceased by his stepfather, Johnny Grimes and his brother Stewart Peterson Sr. Left to cherish his memory is Kevin’s beloved and loving wife of 30 years, Gloria Jackson Peterson, their beloved son, Kevin Brian Peterson Worthington (Kevin Jr., lovingly nicknamed KJ); his beloved sister, Pamela Walker; his aunts Patricia Robinson, Phyllis Tallman, and Penny Alzawahreh; his uncles Peter Tallman Sr., Preston Tallman, and Parker Tallman; his dear nieces and nephews; along with many cousins, friends, and sibling-in-laws who will sorely miss Big Kevin and his kind and gentle spirit.

Entrusted with arrangements is Confessor Rodriguez Jr., Funeral Director/Owner of Danbury Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 117 South Street, Danbury, CT 06810. T: 203-616-5128 | E: danburymemorial@gmail.com
