Obituary
Katherine Giannara passed peacefully on the morning of April 9, 2023 in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family. She was born on November 24, 1943 in Athens Greece to the late Alexander Giannaras and Faye (Kalla) Giannara.
To friends and her customers, she went by “Kathy”. To her family she went by “Katerina”, “Mom”, and “Yiayia”. Things that brought her joy include knitting and caring for her pets. She loved her garden and she was known for her green thumb.
Katherine was a Connecticut resident for over 50 years. She resided in Bethel, CT where she raised her children, grandchildren, and helped raise her great grandchildren. Katherine was the epitome and pillar of strength for her family and three generations. She lived a selfless life always caring for her family and others ahead of herself. Her compassionate heart and fiery spirit will always be remembered.
She is survived by her daughter Maria Nazzaro and her granddaughters Karina Genao and Natalie Almonte (Ruben), along with her three brothers Kostas, Mercury, and George Giannaras. In addition, she is survived by her loving great-grandchildren Josiah and Khloe and her many beloved nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Debbie Nazzaro and brother John Giannaras.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday April 13, at Wooster Cemetery (20 Ellsworth Ave) at 12:00pm.
