Karen Michele Hawkins-Danzy

Karen Michele Hawkins-Danzy passed away on February 15, 2020 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT.  Karen was born on July 25, 1956 in Danbury, CT to Arma-Jean (Spencer) and the late Arthur Sydney Hawkins. Wife of Jay Danzy.

Karen was a compassionate and caring woman who warmed the hearts of all who knew her.  She had a bright smile and laugh that would fill every room with light and joy.  Karen had a giving spirit and a great passion for life. She loved to spend time with her family, which she cherished above all else, and have cookouts where everyone could gather together to fellowship. Karen’s heart was full of love. She loved each member of her family equally and with all of her heart.

Karen is survived by her Mother Jean Spencer, beloved husband Jay Danzy, her children Michele Hawkins (Marlek), Michael Hawkins (Korinne), Warren Hawkins (Sheila), step-daughters Tonya Danzy, Solveigh Danzy, and Chevz Nelson (Perchy), her step-sons Kenneth Danzy (Judy), Cedric Danzy, and Gerald Danzy (Tammy), her sisters Marvay Spencer and Carla Spencer, and her brothers Gregory Spencer, Darrell Spencer, and Duane Spencer. Karen is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her step-son Jay Wallace Danzy Jr, her brother Warren Spencer,her niece Shatonna Danzy,  her grandmother Gertrude Spencer and her grandfather L.C. Jefferson.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at New Hope Baptist Church on (12 Aaron B Samuels Blvd, Danbury, CT 06810) on Friday February 21, 2020 from 10 – 11 Am with a service starting at 11 Am.
