Obituary

Karen Sue Tomanic Bachmann, 50, passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2021 in Danbury, CT. Karen was born February 3, 1971 in Danbury to Joseph and Helen Brown-Gannon Tomanic.

Karen grew up in Bethel, CT and attended UCONN. She worked in accounting and then as an Executive Assistant at C.W. Brown for many years.

On May 31, 1997, Karen married Joseph Bachmann. They made their home and raised their son Joseph Bachmann Jr. in New Fairfield, CT. Family was the center of Karen’s life and her infectious laugh could brighten the darkest day. She was a caring and generous woman who was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister. She will be dearly missed.

Ocean City, Maryland was Karen’s favorite family vacation destination. From her first trip in 1981, it quickly became the gathering place for summer fun with all her relatives. Feasting on steamed crabs was a highlight for everyone.

Karen had so much love to give to her family, friends and beyond. She was a lifelong supporter of humanitarian and wildlife causes, with a particular love for dolphins and moose. She enjoyed following the Yankees and Chicago Blackhawks, golfing, gardening, watching Wheel of Fortune and all things purple. Her happy characters were Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.

In addition to her parents, Karen is survived by her husband Joseph Bachmann Sr. and their beloved son Joseph Bachmann Jr., who was the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister Sharon (Jonathan) Joyce, niece Jessica, aunt Helena Kubisek, uncles Ray (Betty) Gannon and Roy (Debbie) Gannon as well as her treasured cousins and friends. Additionally survived by her cats, Kaya, Marshmallow, Rosebud and OK.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday April 5th, 2021 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, 12 Cottage St, Danbury, at 9:30 a.m. with burial in St. Peter Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 restrictions the Mass and burial will be private.

The family will be holding a Celebration of Life gathering later this year to bring her family and friends together.
