Josefina Figueroa

Josefina Figueroa 92, of Danbury, CT. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on January 4th, 2026. She was born in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico on May 12th, 1933 to Gregorio Echevarria and Paula Breban.

Josefina lived in the Bronx, NY before moving to Danbury, CT.  Josefina met Amhed 47 years ago, and spent the last 25 years together married. Josefina was a family person and enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her kids and grandchildren.  On her spare time, she loved going to the casino and playing her Penny machines, watching her Mets play, taking care of her house plants. If you were good enough, you could be her partner in dominoes because she never turned down a game. You could always count on seeing her freshly done nails along with her perfectly placed hair bun. Josefina was the “Rock” of the family as we called it, while making sure everybody was taken care of and always fed. If you were lucky enough you were able to have enjoyed her home cooking. While she will be missed greatly, Josefina lived a long life and stayed strong until the end. The family would like to thank her Caregiver Carmen M. for providing excellent care and providing comfort to Josefina.

Besides her husband Amhed, Josefina is survived by her children Alexis Figueroa, Sandra Gonzalez (Eli), Nelly Brathwaite and Jassie Figueroa (Carmen).  She also leaves behind, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, along with extended family members. She was predeceased by her late husband Santos Figueroa and her son Jose Figueroa.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8th 2026 from 5-8pm at Danbury Memorial Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 7:30pm. Burial is to be held Friday, January 9th, 2026 at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 11:00am, 2600 Lafayette Ave, Bronx, NY 10465.
